I painted Peony in Pink as a study in depth and focus, inspired by the endless folds and layers of a peony bloom. Working in a monochromatic palette of pinks against a stark black background allowed me to strip the flower down to its essence and emphasize the drama within its delicate structure. To me, the peony represents both fragility and resilience, and by limiting the color range I was able to explore light, shadow, and form in a new way. This piece is less about capturing the flower realistically and more about creating space for viewers to pause, look closely, and experience the quiet strength and beauty within its layers.
